About Us

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and current Broadwater families. We work with the school and local community to raise funds for additional school resources and specific projects. We also organise social activities throughout the school year. We are a friendly team of parents and guardians who want to make a positive contribution to school life.

Please contact us if you are interested in helping on the committee and want to contribute in any way – the committee always needs more help.

If you are interested in supporting at events or have any ideas for fundraising and social activities, do please contact us. Inspiration is welcome!

The date of our 2022 AGM is TUES 11 OCTOBER @ 6pm at which all are welcome.  This will be held at the school.  Please email us to let us know if you intend on coming along.  Final details will be emailed nearer the time and we hope there will be a more informal opportunity to meet you soon.

Our communications are made through school emails. Look out for our updates and emails outlining upcoming events and detailing how we are spending the funds raised. Recent projects have included contributions to the school’s annual Challenge Week activities; new books for the Library; graphic tablets used for virtual/online learning and wish list requests from all departments.  A new project is in the pipeline, so watch this space!

Second-hand uniform

One of our main jobs is collecting and selling second-hand uniform. However, with a new uniform being phased in this year we will only be able to sell old style uniform to year 8 and above students.  We stock logo-ed items only and PE kit (blazers, jumpers, PE short-sleeved tops, PE skorts and shorts, blue socks, PE bags plus a very limited number of skirts) but no white shirts or black school trousers. Stock availability changes throughout the year as we are reliant on donations. If you have uniform to donate, please drop it off at Reception in a bag labelled for the Friends of Broadwater School.

All items are in fair to good condition with prices available on request (ranging from £3 to £10 per item).

If you have any uniform requests, please send us an email with details of sizes required and your child’s name and form.  We will endeavour to check stock and get back to you.

Cash Prize Raffles

This is a recent and highly successful fundraiser, introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic as we could not host our usual raffles at school events. All entrants have a chance to win a top prize of £100 or two further prizes of £50. Keep an eye out for emails announcing the next raffle.

In years before COVID the Friends organised an annual Quiz Night.  We also run the refreshments at the school’s Christmas Concert and Summer Production and more recently at the Musical Theatre festival. We also introduced a new event in July this year, a Summer BBQ for parents held at the school – we hope to repeat this next summer as it proved a popular event.
