About Us

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and current Broadwater families. We work with the school and local community to raise funds for additional school resources and also organise social activities throughout the school year. We are a friendly team of parents and guardians who want to make a positive contribution to school life.

Current core committee:

Co-Chairs: Claire Marks and Sophie Robinson

Treasurer: Rob Mitchell

Co-Secretaries: Emily Grayshaw and Wiebke Cook

Social Secretary: POST VACANT

Contact email: friends@broadwater.surrey.sch.uk (this address is checked on a regular basis but please allow a few days for a response)

If you are interested in helping out at events or have any ideas for fundraising and social activities, do please contact us. Inspiration is always needed!

The date of our next AGM is MONDAY 11 OCTOBER @ 6.30pm at which all are welcome. Details will be emailed nearer the time and we also hope there will be a more informal opportunity to meet you in the new school year.

Our communications are made through school emails. Look out for our newsletters and emails outlining upcoming events and detailing how we are spending the funds raised. Recent projects have included contributions to the school’s annual Challenge Week of activities; new books for the Library; graphic tablets used for virtual/online learning and wish list requests from all departments.

Second-hand uniform

One of our main jobs is collecting and selling second-hand uniform. We stock logo-ed items only (blazers, school skirts, jumpers, PE short-sleeved tops, PE rugby tops, PE skorts and shorts, blue socks, PE bags) but no white shirts or black school trousers. Stock availability changes throughout the year as we are reliant on donations. If you have uniform to donate, please drop it off at Reception in a bag labelled for the Friends of Broadwater School.

All items are in fair to good condition with prices available on request (ranging from £3 to £10 per item).

The date of our next sale for new parents will be confirmed shortly, but hopefully will take place during the last week of the summer term 2021. Unfortunately, Covid-19 restrictions have disrupted our usual sale of uniform at the New Parents Evening.

For parents with children already at the school, we have lots of items in bigger sizes for older years. If you have any uniform requests, please send us an email with details of sizes required and your child’s name and form.

Cash Prize Raffles

This is a recent and highly successful fundraiser, introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic as we could not host our usual raffles at school events. All entrants have a chance to win the top prize of £100 or two further prizes of £50. Keep an eye out for emails announcing the next raffle.

We traditionally organise a popular annual Quiz Night for parents, guardians and friends of the school, and run the refreshments at the school’s Christmas Concert and Summer Production. 2020/21 has been a challenging year for all but we hope to be back to normal service soon!
