Broadwater School

Broadwater bees

Building on the incredible sustainability efforts within our school, we felt inspired to champion perhaps the most vital creature on our planet: the humble yet extraordinary bee. Our aim was to deepen students' understanding of biodiversity and unveil the fascinating world of these essential pollinators. In 2024, three dedicated teachers embarked on beekeeper training, and through a wonderful collaboration with the Farncombe Community Garden, coupled with generous donations from the Friends of Broadwater, we now proudly host our very first thriving beehive! This buzzing hub is lovingly tended by our enthusiastic Bee Club students, offering them a unique hands-on experience in conservation and the wonders of nature.

In essence, Broadwater School is a vibrant hub of eco-conscious activity, where student leadership, whole-school participation, and community collaboration converge to cultivate a deep-seated commitment to sustainability. From achieving the Green Flag to adopting endangered species and nurturing our own beehive, the diverse and impactful initiatives demonstrate a profound understanding of our interconnectedness with the natural world and a powerful dedication to forging a greener future.
