Broadwater School

Aspire and Challenge

We have the highest expectations of all pupils at Broadwater and are committed to supporting their personal development through excellent teaching and an extensive extra-curricular programme. For those pupils who want to go above and beyond, and do more, we have our Aspire & Challenge Group.

The Aspire & Challenge Group (ACG) is our provision for pupils identified as high attaining in years 7-10, with the intent to ensure that they are receiving the enrichment and provision necessary to reach their full potential.

The aim of the group is to raise pupils’ aspirations further by exposing them to prospects beyond their secondary education and challenge them through providing opportunity for academic and personal growth. Opportunities include our Challenge Hour Debate Club, internal and external workshops, subject specific enrichment, academic collaboration with Charterhouse School, and trips to universities and relevant businesses.

The Aspire and Challenge Group focusses on developing a culture of excellence within the school, and endeavours to broaden the cultural horizon of all participating pupils.

While some pupils are invited to join the Aspire and Challenge Group based on attainment data, all pupils are welcome to apply for a space within the group. The application period runs throughout the first half term of each academic year, and is open to all students, year 7-10.

If there are any questions regarding the Aspire & Challenge Group, pupils should liaise directly with Miss Pothecary in the English Department. apothecary@broadwater.surrey.sch.uk
