Careers Guidance

Broadwater School provides careers education and guidance through a Social Science programme this is fully supported by an independent Careers Advisor/or a Youth Support Officer for statement students. All students have access to a comprehensive collection of careers resources (prospectuses, careers books/CD ROMs etc) located in the Learning Resource Centre.

We use 'Start'  - a fantastic online careers learning tool. Please see letter below for full details. You can register and log in at www.startprofile.com

  • In Year 8, the emphasis is on decision-making to prepare students for their option choices of subjects for study at Key Stage 4 through a one-to-one interview and/or during a lunchtime “drop in” session with the Careers Advisor.
  • All Year 10 participate in a Work Experience week during the Summer Term. Year 10 receive careers guidance through a one to one interview and/or during a lunchtime 'drop-in' session with the Careers Advisor.
  • Year 10 & 11 participate in a careers and job interview programme providing them with the opportunity to practice skills learnt via “mock” interviews. 
     
  • Year 11 invited to presentations by both Godalming College and Guildford College Group providing information on courses available Post 16. Guidance on college choices available through a one-to-one interview and/or during a lunchtime “drop in” session with the Careers Advisor.

 

Godaming College Open Evening 2017

Open Evening 18th October 2017, 4.30-8.30pm

The Open Evening is an ideal opportunity for you to find out more about the College, about its specialist teaching and learning, its excellent facilities, the range of enrichment activities available and generally soak up the atmosphere and to get a feel for what College life is like.

The whole College campus is open for you to explore at your own pace and all teaching staff are available for you discuss the courses that you are interested in.  
All departments will have displays of students work and teachers and students are present to talk you through the detail.  General information is also available in specific areas and an overview of the College will be given by the Principal, Emma Young in her talks.
